Alexandria welcomes the Solstice with several events, including poetry readings, music, sun salutes, and more.
Alexandria’s Office of the Arts will celebrate the Summer Solstice on June 21 at Alexandria Waterfront at 5:43 am, when the Sun rises, and light falls directly between the two sides of the sculpture piece, Now or Never.
As the Solstice begins, Margaret Townsend of River’s Edge Yoga and Movement Center will lead a Sunrise Yoga class at Waterfront Park.
And if 5:43 am is too early for you. River’s Edge and the Old Town North Community Partnership will host a Solstice Celebration in the Montgomery Park Gazebo beginning at 10:00 am.
