Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Need!

Many thanks to the vendors of the Old Town North Farmers’ Markets and Hank’s Oyster Bar for ensuring that none of the produce from local farms or other food items sold at the Old Town North Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market goes to waste.

At the end of the Sunday and Thursday Markets, volunteers from the Old Town North Community Partnership and Volunteer Alexandria drop off produce and other food items that won’t be carried over to the next market with our friends at Hank’s Oyster Bar.

The produce and other food items are stored in a refrigerator at Hank’s until they can be picked up by the Alive team and taken directly to one of the ALIVE Food Hubs in Alexandria.

* Beginning in June, the Old Town North Market vendors and the Old Town North Community Partnership will also begin donating food at the close of the Thursday Market to Food Not Bombs, a local not-for-profit.

  • Many of the vendors and volunteers at the Old Town North Market are also involved in additional efforts to support those in need within the community.
